From the Olympic torch to the Beijing sporting venues to the gear used by the athletes themselves, the 2008 games are a truly high-tech affair.

For sports fans with a taste for tech, we've gathered some of the technological highlights of this year's Olympics

It took 34 designers one year to produce the winning Olympic torch design submitted by PC manufacturer Lenovo's Innovation Design Centre.



Intended to look like a scroll as a tribute to the Chinese invention of paper, the torch burns propane and is made from a polished magnesium-aluminium alloy.



The China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation designed the torch's burning system, which can withstand winds of up to 65 km/hour.
