Nike's Flywire technology, which debuts in Track and Field with the Nike Victory Spike pictured above, allows the creation of sports shoes whose only support comes from threads.
The key to Flywire is a lightweight skeleton of strategically placed engineered fibres.
This innovation, developed in the Nike Sports Research Lab, means that track spikes can for the first time be manufactured to weigh less than 100g.
